We have great news to share – We have a wonderful opportunity to get funding from the state!

At the Tuesday, November 13th Town Meeting we will vote as a town to enter into the MSBA (Massachusetts’s State Building Authority) process to get state funds for our schools.

Please come to the next meeting on October 18th at 7pm to learn more.

We need your help to make sure the vote passes on 11/13.  This vote is critical for all of our schools! We need your help in a number of different areas like Marketing/PR and research.  It is a very short-term commitment as it just from now until November 13th.

Please read through our website to learn more.

  1. The non-working condition of the fire doors at Gates, and the absence of physical security in this post-9/11 era are enough to have the building condemned.

I attended this school (then known as the “Junior High School”) in 1959 – 61, and the poor condition of the building was a serious concern even then. That this problem has been allowed to reach its current dimension is a terrible disgrace. Will it take a fire, or roof collapse, or terrorist act to force this issue? Our children’s lives are at stake.

    • And imagine a child with a disability in this building during a fire without fire doors to contain the smoke or sprinklers. These children are supposed to wait for rescue. Where?

  2. Thanks for your comments Jim & Gerri. It is certainly interesting to hear that condition of the building was a concern back in the late 50’s, early 60’s. We are working very hard to get a new middle school building and are excited that we will hopefully be able to offset the costs with significant funding from the state. We are investigating what can be done to rectify some of these issues in the interim.
